IntroductionFundamental philosophical questions about the nature of mankind and the world have been asked for so long that it is often assumed these questions are intrinsically unanswerable. However, in recent years, great advances have been made in the tools that science, philosophy and logic can bring to bear on these issues. Unfortunately, as the fields have progressed, they have also separated, so that the implications of the concepts and observations from each on the other are not always followed through. C-FAR was formed by science professionals with multi-disciplinary interests who have specific ideas about how scientists, philosophers and others could work together to tackle these questions. These ideas have resulted in a structured agenda of research projects that we wish to promote, as well as a methodology for using the results to refine that agenda. This web site describes our goals and ideas, disseminates results, and serves as a forum around which like-minded people can structure their activities. It will also provide a gateway into the Centre's online tools and resources, to support those involved in C-FAR-esque activities. |
