Most SPR members who have researched paranormal phenomena or read widely in the literature have encountered cases that they consider particularly strong or telling. However, without some means of bringing such material together and rating it, it is easy for good cases to become lost from view. A new project aims to draw on this collective expertise to help establish an ‘Anomalies Catalogue’, a rated catalogue of the significant evidence for each class of paranormal phenomenon. This catalogue will ultimately be developed and presented via the internet, so that all SPR members will have the opportunity to contribute to it as well as to access it.
The study day will kick off this project by bringing together a number of experts to discuss the cases that they consider particularly strong or significant in their fields, especially the unusual or little known ones. They will use these examples to illustrate the qualities that make for a strong case. These cases will form a core for the catalogue, and the jointly developed quality criteria will provide a means for members to evaluate cases that they would like to submit for inclusion.
Tea and coffee will be available during the lunch hour, but please bring your own meal.
St. Mary Abbots Church Hall can be found by walking up Kensington Church Street, off Kensington High Street. As Church Street bears round to your left, continue straight ahead, into Vicarage Gate. Take the first turning on the right, also named Vicarage Gate and you will see the Church Hall standing in private grounds at the end.
Parking spaces by the Church Hall are NOT available for those attending the Study Day. There is a (rather expensive) car park underneath the Kensington Central Library in Campden Hill Road/Philimore Walk.
